Walked in here knowing nothing. Girlfriend had hear it was good. It's amazing. Every dish had a ton of complex, complimenting flavors. Also got the white coffee or some such thing. Rich and delicious. more like a dessert. But the food is out of control good

I cannot get enough of this place. Every single thing I've tried is delicious. The White Coffee is like the most delicious dessert I've ever had. I dream of it. The curry laksa could be one of my last meals. Every chewy bit of noodles leaves me on cloud nine. The staff is friendly. The water is ice cold. The atmosphere is fun. The AC works. What more could you want?

My first time eating Malaysian food in NYC! The food is so unique -- homey yet feeling like you're back at a food night market. We got the sampler plate as well as the night market noodles, I'd definitely recommend the sampler if you've never tried the food before. It is REALLY loud inside -- can barely hear my friend without shouting -- but again; this adds to the night market vibe.

Ambiance is great and service was amazing We ordered the nasi lemak 10/10 and the spice level was perfect. Ordered the Thai basil chicken and migoreng as well. Both were delicious. Ended the night with mango sticky rice and it was not too sweet and had really fresh mangos too. Our server Steven was super responsive the whole time and made sure we had everything we needed.

I come here when I want Malaysian food but don't want to go to Queens. The taste is quite authentic, and seating and vibes are definitely better than Queens places. They have lunch specials on weekdays which are just slightly cheaper than a la carte. For Thai, there are so many other places better than here, but for Malaysian / Indonesian I think this is a good choice in the city.

I've never had Malaysian food and this restaurant definitely set the bar high for future Malaysian meals! Everything was so good and the portion size is very good. Got three entrees and an appetizer for three people and it was more than enough. My favorite dish was the curry laksa soup! The Thai iced tea is delicious and comes in a very fun cup! I gave this place four stars though because of the service. We had a reservation for 8pm and was not seated until 8:25pm. Seems like this is pretty common if you read other reviews so definitely expect a wait.

I had a good experience at Laut. I came with a friend at around 6pm on a Wednesday night and since we had a reservation, we were seated right away. I ordered the night market noodles with Chinese sausage and my friend ordered the curry laksa. My noodles were good but not spectacular. It had a mix of egg noodles and wide rice noodles, and had a nice smokey charred flavor that I enjoyed. I wish there was more spice and a bit more flavor. I tried a sip of my friend's curry laksa and it was pretty good-tasted very creamy and tangy. My friend is vegan and she appreciated how many vegetarian and vegan options there were. We sat next to a table that had a birthday and the restaurant had a great birthday celebration. They dimmed the lights, played this track of a guy singing happy birthday, and all of the staff came together and clapped and celebrated. I think the birthday girl got a coconut. Very fun!

Firstly, cute, inviting vibes of the restaurant got us excited for the meal to follow. Upon being seated, we went through the menu, placed the order and almost immediately got our food served. One would think, the quick service meant that the food was already prepared and we were being served stale food, but this was NOT at all the case. Everything was extremely flavorful, tasted fresh, and we didn't put our spoon/fork/chopsticks down until the plate was swiped clean. For food, our party of two ordered and shared: - Curry Laksa: Highly recommend (5/5). Our server recommended this as well, so we almost immediately connected on this item. The broth was flavorful and had a deep coconut flavor and aromatics galore. The chicken in it was tender, the egg noodles al dente, the additions of tofu and fish balls, only added more funk. Loved this bowl of nourishment. - Nasi Lemak: Yum, and what fun (5/5). This plate was a sampler of sorts. It had a bunch of many components which just led the way to permutations and combinations. Every bite was exciting, almost unique given the multiple combos you can derive, and had a plethora of textures. The individual components consisted of - crispy anchovies; peanuts; a cold, vegetarian pickle; a shrimp paste/curry, Rendang chicken, boiled egg and coconut rice. Overall, the food was hearty, nourishing, delicious and super satiating. I don't eat Malaysian/Singaporean food that often so not sure how the price point compares. Regardless of that, I highly recommend the experience. Not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating on Yelp.
